I created my body of work to show that I am grateful for these things that I can sometimes take for granted, such as flowers, the sun and the moon, my house, that are always there. I made my work unique by taking inspiration from traditional paintings and adding my own twist to them. For most of my pieces I started by flattening out a piece of clay and manipulating it to make it have more depth, then either carving or adding clay onto the flat piece to create forms. I used needle tools and carving tools to bring my vision to life as well as many different colors of glazes that I painted on. I chose vibrant colors to show the importance of these things and make it interesting to look at. What I want the viewer to take away is notice the things in your day to day life that make you happy and be grateful for them.
